What is the evidence behind medical leadership and management? You will explore medical leadership and management by drawing upon your own experiences and relating this to theoretical frameworks and models. This will help you to reflect and better understand how to use medical leadership and management theories going forward.
Session 2 – Medical Leadership
We look at a wide range of perspective on Medical Leadership and the evidence base behind these approaches, drawing on the use of case studies to show their application. We introduce you to a wide range of leadership diagnostic questionnaires and help you to reflect on your own personal medical leadership journey.
Session 3 – Motivation and Engagement
What makes for success in your career? How do we engage people around us and those in the wider healthcare team? The evidence base behind motivation and the engagement strategies that have an impact on productivity and performance.
Session 4- Medical Management
What is medical management and which models are effective to support the delivery of healthcare? We examine the role of the Clinical Director, Medical Director and seek to understand what management roles have the greatest impact on motivation and personal growth and development.
Session 5 – Personality Types – getting the most from your team
We help you to identify your own personality type and how this will influence your own learning style in the work environment. We explore ways to understand the personality types of your team members and to identify their strengths and contributions to team roles.
Session 6 – How well does the team contribute to Patient Safety Objectives?
There are a wide range of tools to assess the team against patient safety objectives. We explore ways in which the patient safety team assessment tool can help to develop the team’s collective learning after a critical untoward incident.
Session 7 – Evaluation and Action Planning
We provide you with support to consider an action plan to help make a difference to your own medical leadership journey
